About Us
We are located halfway, by boat, between Chicago and Miami on the beautiful Erie Canal System in Central New York. The New York State Canal System joins the Great Lakes with the Atlantic ocean. At Lock 23 on the Erie Canal, we are almost exactly at the center of the waterway. ess-kay yards is women owned and operated year-round staff for over 54 years since 1972.
George and Sarah Mann purchased the former Ace Boat Works Marina Brewerton NY in December 1972 and soon after renamed it to ess-kay yards. By 1975 George made an indeliable mark on the boating industry in Central New York and along the entire New York State Canal. George set out to make ess-kay yards into a first-class transient oriented marina. He worked along side Kim, his daughter, until he passed away in 2008 and she took over the operations with her husband Ethan.
